Abstract
the application of deuteriation on the 8-hydroxy quinoline ligand on the photophysical properties is studied in this paper.the reduction in amplitude and frequency of viberational modes due to deuterium's incresed mass, relative to hydrogen, has a significant effect on non-radiative deactivation process, which can occur through both intra- and inter-molecular vibration coupling.the effect of deuteration on excited staste lifetimes has allowed for its application in probing the nature of excited state decay process.
