Abstract

This study constructs a hybrid system by using compressed air engine and internal combustion engine (ICE), in which the compressed air is considered as green energy. By taking advantages of two different kinds of engines, we accomplish a high efficiency and long driving-range vehicle. The research has started with the simulation of the compressed air engine and ICE separately, then I make construction of the map of torque/rotational speed/efficiency diagrams and intake air pressure/torque diagrams. Afterwards, we try to find the best efficiency power split condition. Part of the simulation will be tested by experiments to confirm its practice and the usefulness of prediction before further hardware construction in the future, and I also try to modify the simulation model by comparing with experiment data to make the result better. Thanks for gridding the experiment data, the computer can control the hybrid system by looking up table. This study also discusses about the details of hybrid, including the difference of the hybrid construction methods, the modes which can be switched in the hybrid system and the corresponding principles of those modes. Like supercharging, regenerative braking and idling recharging and so on are included. Finally, we make a statement of the control logic of entire system.
