The purpose of this research is to understand the physical and mental impacts of clean room clothing for semiconductor fab workers. In this research, the clean room clothing is classified into 4 levels, in accordance with the air permeability and moisture permeability. The operation types include dynamic operation (for 8”Fab) and static operation (for 12”Fab). Thus, the total no of treatments are eight. For the experiment design, 5 females and 5 males participate in this experiment. The response measures include ear temperature, heart rate, skin temperature, microclimate temperature, microclimate humidity, as well as the subjective assessment of whole body and local area fatigue, physical heat strain, mental factors, and the overall evaluation of wearing clean room clothing and shoes, under different air permeability and moisture permeability. The results indicate the clean room clothing had significant impact on ear temperature (p<0.001), skin temperature of scapula (p<0.001), the microclimate in temperature of back, hip and thigh, and the microclimate in humidity of hip and thigh (p<0.001). The energy expenditure of dynamic operation was higher than that of static operation. The ear temperature, skin temperature and microclimate temperature / humidity tend to increase with the increased activities. The clean room clothing had significant influence on left thigh feeling (p<0.05). The flexibility of textile and the fit of clean room clothing are two crucial features affect comfort. Overall, it is better to choose clean room clothing with high to increase comfort and efficiency.
