Abstract
The formulation and coating of photo paper for dye diffusion & thermal transfer printing were carried out. There are two layers, i.e., dye receiving, intermediate layer, that have to be coated on paper substrate. The polypropylene synthetic paper made by Nan Ya Co. was used as the paper substrate, the vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer was used as the dye receiving material and the aqueous acrylic system Bond-7 by 3M Co. was served as the adhesive. The performance of the photo paper developed was compared with the benchmark product made by Dai Nippon Printing Co., and it was found that the printing effects are compatible, but the material and production cost can be substantially reduced through using PP and efficient slot die coating operation.
