Abstract
As the development of the medical technique, the bearings of dental hand piece are important components. Choosing the good bearings can make better performance of the dental hand piece. Ball bearings can suffer heavy load and cheap, but they can’t use on high-speed and great precision. In order to break through the limit of the ball bearings, air bearings can make dental hand piece high-speed and great precision. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the performance of the air bearing of dental hand piece, Including the different pressure and different clearance. In the numerical analysis, To make use of Finite Difference Method to solve the Reynolds equation in order to analyze the performance of the air bearing, include load capacity、stiffness,and etc. Finally, we had experiment on dental handpiece. To compare the experimental data with the theoretical data, we had a good comparison result. Last, we developed a numerical analysis for dental handpiece. The system can provide a useful tool to design the air bearing of dental handpiece.
