Abstract
Taiwan has been playing an important role in the global electronics supply chain. Taiwan manufacturers’ strength can be easily found by the short lead time, the stable supply, and the excellent quality. But, when the competition among the markets is getting sever, Taiwan manufacturers don’t have much bargaining power of suppliers that own the key technologies and patents in the value chain. The study subject is a supplier that is one of the biggest chemical companies in the world. Product Management serves an inter-disciplinary role, bridging gaps within this company between teams of different expertise. The key successful factor of the product management in this company is creating a platform to manage product innovation. The result shows that companies can benefit from managing product innovation in three key areas: 1. Product Competitiveness: With the generations of R&D productivity and the experiences of cross-functions, the new product development generation process will bring more opportunities to develop the most competitive product in the market. 2. Customer Relationship: The process of this platform identifies customers, creates customer knowledge, builds customer relationships, and shapes customers’ perceptions of the company and its products. 3. Businesses Growth: Managing and enhancing the sharing of knowledge certainly creates a common thread and keeps the channels open for fostering innovation amongst individuals and teams which towards sustained business growth.
