Abstract
AbstractFirms that sustain the competency advantage and survival consistently in the fierce environment depends on the capacity of organizations to pursue growth, which is an important issue in strategic innovation. Based on the evolving perspective of the strategic innovation and the resource-based theory, this study proposes a framework of strategic innovation with four embed elements: creative thinking, opportunity identification, resources exploitation, and asset accumulation. This four embedded dimensions illustrate how a business uses the creative thinking to identify the existence of the opportunity, following by resource exploitation to keep it and accumulate capabilities and related strategic assets. In the process of evolution, a series of strategic activities are identified to ensure the company’s sustainability and strengthen the competency advantage. We adopt the single case research methodology to empirically test the proposed framework. Taiwan Citigroup is chosen as the targeted case.It was found that an evolving relationship exists among the above mentioned four dimensions. This study concludes by discussing the practical implication for a financial firm to achieve the strategic innovation in the global market place.key words: strategic innovation、resource-based、case study
