Abstract
Scraping is a fundamental technique for precision machine tools. The accuracy of components is lower that of machine used to make the components. The scraping techniques were used to maintain machine tool accuracy and to develop proper oil pockets for slider. However, scraping is a time consuming process. In order to improve the productivity of scraping process, it is of interest to develop an auto-scraping system. The developed system includes a machine vision system and a mechanism with tri-axial movement for scraping. The image of the work surface captured by the vision system was processed and analyzed to identify areas where scraping is needed. The scraping mechanism is then directed to the desired area for scraping automatically.
