Abstract
Since the first Industry Revolution during the 18th century, the industry has followed the linear economy business model by step of take-make-use-dispose and promoted the development of manufacturing industry significantly. Moreover, the linear economy model also improved the living standard of human beings in the developing countries. However, due to limited resources and infinite desires from the human, if people continuously execute linear economy business model in the future, we will not only encounter the issue of uneven resource allocation but also suffer the impact of global warming. The economist started to consider how to achieve sustainable development of industry without inducing environment pollution and prevent from lack of resource. The circular economy business model which focuses on optimization of resource recycling and recyclable product design has been proposed increasingly. The concept of circular economy was originally popular in Europe and then spread to the developing countries in Asia over the past decade. This paper first demonstrated the product design principles and the strategy of business model based on the concept of the circular economy. In addition, the paper pointed out what opportunities and challenges the whole industry or companies would bear during the transition of business model from linear to circular economy. Most importantly, this paper suggested that establishing a material recycling industrial park by the concept of industrial symbiosis can either motivate the related companies investing innovated activities or achieve the purpose of facilitating material flow recyclily.
