Abstract
Free Trade Zones (FTZ) also known as Commercial Free Zones (CFZ) became popular in most countries after World War II. Developing countries use Free Trade Zones to attract foreign investment and improve their economic conditions. In return investors look for incentives that provide them with higher profit margins. This study investigates the Belize Commercial Free Zone (CFZ). Sample of sixty-five companies with in the CFZ were used to gather information. This study identifies the contributions of the CFZ to the Belizean economy. It also presents cases on the vulnerabilities of CFZs. Lastly; it identifies issues companies in the Belize CFZ are presently facing and gives recommendations on possible solutions.
