Abstract

軟性顯示器
The bistable reflective cholesteric liquid crystal display (ChLCD) have memory effects, they can remain the picture for a long time without applying electric field. And because of their unique optical properties, they do not need polarization sheet. So they can lower the manufacturing cost and the thickness of the panel. ChLCD is suitable for applications like e-book, electronic advertising signboard, bill board and label, etc, the light weight and flexible ChLCD is the future goal. This thesis includes: 1. We measure the electro-optical characteristics of under cyclic bending the traditional glass substrate ChLCD and flexible ChLCD. 2. We use the bending machine designed last year, to study on different PC/ITO substrate and PC/IZO substrate, with different width (50 μm∼1000 μm) of conducting film. The result shows that the response time( cholesterol liquid crystal Homeotropic texture to Planar texture) is inverse proportional to size of pitch of layer of liquid crystal. Flexible cholesterol liquid crystal display response time is not effected under bending condition. And, the resistance of PC/ITO substrate influenced by deformation at the beginning, so it causes the increase of resistance. We cannot obtain a better experiment result, due to the lack data of PC/ITO and PC/IZO with various sizes in width.
