Abstract
The objective of this study is to investigate synchronous generators with axial magnetic circuit that resists armature reactions. First, possible methods for resisting armature reactions are analyzed and determined. The details of all the possible methods are further analyzed with optimal designs on the dimensions of the generators simultaneously. Finally, the selection is made for the design that meets the requirements in this study. The principal approach to the problem is the employment of the commercial magnetic circuit analysis and simulation package. Due to the various parameters that influencing the output voltage of the generators, main efforts have been emphasized on the dimensions and materials characteristics for optimal simulations. In addition, the ability of resisting armature reactions has been considered with load analysis cases for satisfying the performance requirements of the generators.
