Abstract
This study explores the meaning and content of three-dimensional concurrent engineering (3-D CE) from the process, organization, and method perspectives. A systematic methodology is developed integrating the above perspectives in order to improve the performance of produt development on the knowledge network. The study uses the multi-agent framework to implement a prototype demonstrating the methodology of 3-D CE. Through the prototype system, the 3-D concurrency is shown to integrate organization, process, and method perspectives. In this research, a SOC project is used as an example to develop a scenario with a focus on the design for testability (DFT). The scenario is then used to test the 3-D CE methodology and to include the relevant supply chain considerations to acquire a broad-based solution, based on the interface with knowledge network.
