Abstract
There are many network applications involving interactions with virtual 3D scene. However, most of them suffer from two major problems: bandwidth limitation and latency problem. To cope with these problems, we exploit a novel streaming technique for remote urban walkthrough. First, we estimate the visual perceptivity and exploit a benefit function for level-of-detail models in urban scene. Which level-of-detail models are selected for real time remote rendering is decided. Moreover, we introduce a remote walkthrough procedure and an adaptive streaming algorithm. Finally, we provide several experimental results to prove that the streaming algorithm and the remote walkthrough technique are practicable.
