Abstract
Seven compounds were isolated from the leaves and one was isolated from the fruits of Melastoma candidum. These eight compounds were identified as 2α, 3β-dihydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid (MCL-1), 3β-hydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid (MCL-2), 2α, 3β, 23-trihydroxyurs- 12-en-28-oic acid (MCL-3), cerebrosides (MCL-4), mixture of β-sitosterol and campesterol(MCL-5), mixture of β-sitosteryl-β-D- glucopyranoside and campesteryl- β-D-glucopyranoside(MCL-6), 5-formyl-7,8-dimethyltocol (MCL-7) and Kaempferol 3-O-2,6-di-O- (trans-p-coumaroyl)- β-D-glucopyranoside(MCF-1) by spectroscopic evidence.
