Abstract
CoII(acac)2 was used to prepared the well-defined poly(vinyl acetate) as macro-initiator, which was applied to initiate the reverse ATRP of methyl methacrylate and styrene to synthesize the block copolymers of PVAc-b-PMMA and PVAc-b-PSt. The polymerization showed a linearly increased molecular weight and relatively narrow molecular weight distribution. Given by the chain extension via this hybridization technique neither difunctional initiator nor further chain end modification was required. It is just a simple chain extension pathway in controlled radical polymerization process. CoII(salen*) also be used to mediate the hybridization of CMRP and ATRP. Kinetic study was performed to understand the mechanism of this hybridization method. In another part, although there are several cobalt complexes can mediate the polymerization of VAc, (H2O)2Co(dmgBF2)2 did not be reported to mediate the polymerization of VAc. So (H2O)2Co(dmgBF2)2 was prepared to mediate polymerization of VAc for increasing the variety of cobalt complex mediated in CMRP.
