Abstract

System-on-a-Chip technology has been employed for implementing plural functional modules on a single silicon chip in order to reduce the cost and improve the production efficiency. Hence, the number of components on printed circuit boards could be reduced by adopting the SoC technology for designing and fabricating a single integrated circuits. Since a complete system is on a single chip, identical supports of power management and specification has been maintained for reducing the power consumption from the system view point such that the energy efficiency can be enhanced. On the other hand, due to the integration of every module on a chip, the routing distance among modules becomes shorter resulting in speedy signal transfer. Since the 3C market strictly requires smaller size, faster speed, lower cost, and power-saving products, the SoC technology will be the main stream in the IC design industry. In this thesis, the work has been based upon a previous research of Ten-stage Constant-current Charging Strategy for LiON Batteries so that a SoC design approach has been applied via electronic design automation packages. Following the steps of circuit design, module synthesis, and performance verification, assessments and recommendations have been described for the EDA tools.
