Abstract

等時性,分散式佇列雙匯流排網路,光纖分散數據介面 -II 網路,波長分割多工網路,隨意視訊 Isochronous, DQDB Networks, FDDI-II Networks, WDM Networks, Video on Demand
在電腦通訊網路的領域中,多媒體通訊服務已成為今日通訊網路研究發展的一大趨勢。多媒體系統包含多樣的資訊來源,如聲音、影像、動畫等,有鑑於此當今的許多電腦網路都提供了多種的傳輸服務,如:非同步(asynchronous)與等時性 (Isochronous)傳輸。而如何整合與管理這多種不同性質的傳輸頻寬則是一重要的課題。本篇論文針對下列三種高速網路之等時性通道 (Isochronous Channel) 的管理進行研究:IEEE 802.6分散式佇列雙匯流排網路 DQDB (Distributed Queued Dual Bus)、FDDI-II 光纖分散數據介面-II 網路 (Fiber Distributed Data Interface-II) 及波長分割多工星狀網路 (WDM Star Networks),對於分散式佇列雙匯流排網路與光纖分散數據介面-II 網路,由於網路的頻寬有限,為了提高網路的利用率,我們引進了頻寬重複使用的觀念,並研究等時性通道重複使用的問題,同時為此兩種網路,個別提出了一個高效率的等時性通道重複使用的演算法。對於波長分割多工網路,為提供多媒體傳輸的服務,我們設計一系列波長頻道排程方法,可同時傳輸等時性與非同步的資料,並提出了一個以波長分割多工網路為骨幹的隨意視訊 (Video onDemand) 系統架構。此外,由於可供使用的光波有限,故我們設計了一個新的波長分割多工星狀網路架構,以便重複使用有限的光波。本文共分為五章:第一章與第二章分別探討分散式佇列雙匯流排網路與光纖分散數據介面-II 網路上等時通道重複使用的問題,並提出有效率的演算法;第三章討論在波長分割多工星狀網路上提供多媒體傳輸的問題,並設計一個波長排程方法;第四章提出一光波重複使用的波長分割多工星狀網路架構;第五章研究在波長分割多工網路提供隨意視訊服務的相關課題。In this dissertation, the problems of isochronous channelmanagement for high speed networks are discussed and studied.Three pro- mising high speed networks, IEEE 802.6 DQDB (Dis-tributed Queued Dual Bus), FDDI-II (Fiber Dis- tributed DataInterface-II), and WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) StarNetworks, are chosen as our target networks. For both DQDB andFDDI-II networks, since the network bandwidth is limited, theconcept of spatial reuse is employed to im- prove the networkutilization. Based on this, the problems of reuse isochronouschannels in both DQDB and FDDI-II networks are studied, and wepropose two efficient isochronous channel reuse algorithms forthem individually. For WDM star networks, in order to supportmultimedia communication services, two types of trafficincluding isochronous and asynchronous are considered in thisstudy. An algorithm to schedule heterogeneous traffic demandsfor single star net- works is also proposed. Owing to lack ofthe number of available wavelengths, we design a simple systemarchitecture called Dual Star WDM Network (DSWNet) toefficiently reuse finite wavelengths for WDM star networks andalso propose an isochronous and asyn- chronous trafficscheduling algorithm for DSWNet. We finally propose a Video onDemand system over WDM star network. Based on the proposedsystem con- figuration, the problem of scheduling isochronousand asynchronous traffic with multiple transmitters andreceivers is investigated and an efficient tra- ffic schedulingalgorithm with multiple transmitters and receivers is alsoproposed.
