Abstract
An overview is given on a multistep multicolor laser study in M for transitions from the singly excited 3smd + D (m=3-6) states to the ultranarrow doubly excited 3png 1 F (n=5,6,7) autoionization states. The results provide a precise quantitative comparison of experiments and theoretical calculations for the narrow 3png 1 F series.
