Abstract

Providing realistic order promise dates or answering customer order quotation on a timely basis offers the key to fulfill customers demand for the growth of global customers. ATP (available-to-promise) is the uncommitted portion of stocks to support customer order promising. This order promising mechanism cannot reserve capacity and material resource for important customer in advance. Moreover, the assumptions of infinite capacity and fixed lead time and new constraints derived from global supply chain environment and multi-plant structures such as customer-preference plants or material vendors, material compatibility, etc., result in the incompetence of this order promising mechanism. These new constraints are apparent in many industries and TFT-LCD industry is a good illustration. Therefore, to enhance order promising with reliability and efficiency, this research take TFT-LCD industry as illustration to propose a global ATP computing system that can reserve resource for important customers and employs optimal methodology, integer programming, in order to allocate material and capacity resource for fulfilling customers demand beneficially with considering new derived material and capacity constraints in global supply chain environment.
