Abstract

A cyanide anion (CN - )-triggered deprotection of NH-protected phenothiazine, (E)-10-(10H-phenothiazin-3′-yl)propenal, has been discovered as a novel mechanism for the highly selective fluorescence detection of CN - under ambient conditions.
