Abstract

The use of the Plackett-Burman experimental design in evaluating the relative importance of 11 variables in the powder processing of magnesium hydroxide to sintered magnesia is illustrated. Results indicate that the molar feed ratio in the precipitation step is the most significant variable within the ranges tested. The relation between sintered densities and particle size distributions is also discussed.
