Abstract
Aging behavior and tensile properties of 6061Al-0.3 μm Al 2 O 3p composites were investigated. The distribution Al 2 O 3 particles in the composites compacted by reciprocating extrusion was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Aging hardness, measured by Vickers hardness tester, indicated a large work-hardening capacity due to large difference between the tensile strength and yield strenth. The composites also exhibited excellent ductility due to a minimum of pores and particle clustering or poor interface bonding.
