Abstract
N-Methylnitrones can be generated in good-to-excellent yields from aldehydes and ketones with a stoichiometric amount of N-methyl-N,O-bis(trimethylsilyl)hydroxylamine under very mild conditions and their formation, involving a bimolecular push-pull type mechanism, is discussed. © 1985 American Chemical Society.
