Abstract
This study explored 43 Taiwanese English majors’ construction of technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPCK) in the video format as an example of TED talk. Based on the data analysis of videos, peer-, self-, and external reviewers’ evaluation, and interviews, this study had the following major findings. They demonstrated better content knowledge on choosing pronunciation problems and explaining why such problems exist among Taiwanese learners. However, they lacked technical knowledge in choosing appropriate multimedia tools and pedagogical knowledge on designing activities combined with controlled communicative practice. The study highlighted the possibility of integrating video designs into language teacher education programs for pre-service teachers to demonstrate their TPCK in pronunciation instruction.
