Abstract
A (Bi, Pb) 2 Sr 2 Ca 2 Cu 3 O 10+δ powder sample in epoxy was c-axis aligned in a magnetic field of 9.4 T at room temperature. The temperature dependence of its normal-state magnetic susceptibility in c-axis direction shows a superconducting fluctuation near T c = 108 K, from which the coherence length ξ ab can be estimated to be 11.5 Å. A weakly temperature-dependent anisotropy Δχ(T) χ c (T) - χ ab (T) has a value of 58.4 × 10 -5 cm 3 /mol at room temperature for this triply CuO 2 -layered compound. The equivalent 19.5 × 10 -5 cm 3 /mol per CuO 2 layer is much larger than the corresponding values for singly CuO 2 -layered compound (La, Sr) 2 CuO 4 or doubly CuO 2 -layered compounds YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7 and Bi 2 Sr 2 CaCu 2 O 8 . © 1993.
