Abstract

Computer aided design Electrowetting Microfluidics
Recently, electrowetting-on-dielectric (EWOD) chips have become the most popular actuator for droplet-based digital microfluidic biochips (DMFBs) due to their high throughput, automatic control, and low cost. As the complexity of biochemical assays increase, powerful computer-aided-design (CAD) tools are needed. This paper provides an overview of DMFBs and describes some important issues and problems in the chip-level design of DMFBs. © 2014 International Journal of Automation and Smart Technology.
