Abstract

Tungsten-η 4 -carboxylated-1,3-diene cations in both s-trans and s-cis forms have been prepared and the influence of the diene conformation on its nucleophilic regiochemistry is demonstrated; the synthetic utility of these diene complexes is reported, and the crystal structure of one product has been determined.
