Abstract
In this paper, panel speakers are integrated into arrays, with electronic compensation for beam steering. Array signal processing algorithms such as the delay-sum algorithm and the Dolph-Chebychev algorithm are applied to steer the sound beam. Surround effect is created by an automatic scanning scheme of the sound beam. These algorithms are implemented into a digital filter bank on the platform of a multi-channel digital signal processor (DSP). A 5 × 1 small array and a 3 × 3 large matrix projection screen are constructed for experimental verification. Numerical and experimental results justify the effectiveness of the proposed audio-video system.
