Abstract
The decay of Ba90 1 5646 to levels of odd-odd La89 1 5746 has been studied in experiments in which t coincidence, t() angular correlation, -ray singles, and time-dependent -ray spectra were collected. The Ba146 activity was produced directly by on-line mass separation from the fission products of the U235(nth,f) reaction. The half-life of Ba146 was determined to be 2.220.07 sec. A level scheme containing 48 levels and 231 rays is proposed for La146. Spin and parity for some levels below 1.2 MeV are assigned on the basis of angular correlation measurements and -ray branching. Details of the level scheme are discussed within the context of the level systematics of neighboring odd-odd La isotopes and N=89 odd-odd isotones. © 1985 The American Physical Society.
