Abstract
Elemental amounts of calcium, chlorine, nitrogen, and phosphorus in a water phantom were determined using an in vivo prompt gamma activation system. The system consisted of a low-power mobile nuclear reactor with modified external neutron beam port, a water phantom containing body organ and legs, and a HPGe detector with associated electronics. Neutron and gamma doses in the partial body irradiation were determined using thermoluminescent dosimeters and foil activation technique. The minimum detectable amount and percentage uncertainty of each essential element, and total radiation doses received during partial body irradiation are discussed. © 1988.
