A technique known as the half-fringe photoelasticity (HFP) was used for the determination of the stress intensity factors for edge-cracked plates in uniaxial tensile loading. The variation of the stress intensity factors with orientations and lengths of cracks are presented and compared with the available analytical and experimental results. © 1987, SPIE.
