Abstract

A356.2 DTA (Differential Thermal Analysis) Solidification curve Viscosity
Solidification curve and viscosity are the two most important solidification characteristics. The solidification curves of the binary Al-10wt%Si and the A356.2 alloys are determined by using a proposed DTA coupled with the mathematical modeling method. In applying this method, the cooling curves of the alloys are first determined by using DTA, then mathematical modeling is used to simulate this cooling curve, and the solidification curves of the alloys can thus be calculated. The viscosity of the Al-10wt%Si and the A356.2 alloys are determined by using a Searle-type viscometer.
