Abstract
A new generalized springs and dampers element developed in MSC/NASTRAN is described in this paper. The development of this element will enable the capability of MSC/NASTRAN to model frequency dependent or material nonlinear springs and dampers for general structural analysis efficiently. It is expected that this generalized springs and dampers element, named BUSH element, will allow for a wide variety of applications which span the linear/nonlinear static, direct/modal frequency response, linear/nonlinear transient, and optimization analyses. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the convenience and generality of the present element.
