Abstract
The diamagnetic susceptibility d of a two-dimensional charged-particle system in the dissipative regime h-1kT0 is d=nB2/h. (Here is the inelastic scattering lifetime, T0 is the bare degeneracy temperature, n is the number density, and B is the Bohr magneton.) The renormalized d due to an anomalous current relaxation parametrized by a high-frequency dissipative cutoff c is dB2(+1/c). The Hall number is nHnH0(1+1/c). Possible significance of these results for cuprate superconductors in their normal states is pointed out. © 1991 The American Physical Society.
