Abstract

Using the imaginary cutting method, the strain energy and image force on the dislocation near a bimetallic interface are analyzed. The results are compared with those of Dundurs and Sendeckyj and Nakahara et al. It is found that when the distance between the dislocation and interface is comparable with the core radius of the dislocation, the strain energy and the image force on the dislocation are dependent on the dislocation source, which is different from that shown in literature. It is also found that for edge dislocations, the physical variables such as strain energy and the image force are also related to the orientation of Burgers vector. However, when the distance between the dislocation and interface is larger than the core radius of the dislocation by a factor of five, the result is in good agreement with that reported in literature.
