Abstract

Due to the low heat conductivity of epoxy resins, heat generated by the curing reaction might not be transferred out through the mold walls efficiently. Therefore, a nonisothermal curing process occurs even as a casting epoxy is placed in an isothermal environment. In this study, the internal temperature profile in the epoxy during curing was investigated. Effects of the curing temperature and the time on physical and mechanical properties of DGEBA/MDA and DGEBA/MTHA epoxies were studied, too.
