Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of inorganic/organic inhibitors on the pitting potential (E pit ) and critical pitting temperature (CPT) of the high-entropy alloy Co 1.5 CrFeNi 1.5 Ti 0.5 Mo 0.1 in chloride solutions using potentiodynamic polarization tests. The results indicate that six anions all retard the occurrence of pitting corrosion; the inhibitive effect decreases in the order: nitrates benzonatesacetates perchloratescitratesmolybdates. The SEM micrographs show that perchlorates and citrates inhibit propagation of stable pits; acetates and molybdates restrain nucleation of stable pits. © 2011 The Electrochemical Society.
