Abstract

Treatment of PPN[Rh(CO) 4 ] [PPN=(Ph 3 P) 2 N] with various nitro-aromatics in THF at ambient temperature produces a new class of neutral radicals; rhodium(I) species consisting of two cis carbonyl ligands and a bidentate aromatic nitro radical anion of which the nitro group and an ipso-ortho carbon double bond on the ring are bound to the rhodium centre.
