摘要
The use of network and dispersed carbon nanotubes (CNT) as reinforcements for fabricating CNTs/phenolic composites was analyzed. It was demonstrated that network CNTs produce better mechanical properties of composites than dispersed CNTs because CNTs in network are longer, less agglomerated and contain fewer defects. The tensile strength and modulus were increased up to 97.0% and 49.8%, respectively, when 3 wt% CNTs were used for reinforcement in network CNT composites. It was shown that this increase in primarily due to the entanglement of the CNT in the network, which reinforces the composites much more effectively.
