Abstract

Composite films made from polymer-concreted arrays of aligned carbon nanotubes exhibit an exceptional absorption of impact energy and cushioning through collective buckling of nanotubes similar to that of foam mattresses. The sag factor along the tensile axis has been evaluated to be greater than previously reported data by 10-20%. © 2011 The Royal Society of Chemistry.
