Abstract
We study the aggregation behaviors of polyhydroxylated fullerenes (fullerenols) in aqueous solutions using small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). The scattering results show that the highly water soluble C 60 (OH) 18 form mainly small aggregates of a few tens angstrom in size. The structure of the aggregates for the concentrations studied, from 0.625 wt% to 10 wt%, can be characterized with a fractal dimension of 2.5.
