Abstract

Functions;reading;adults' reading interests
The article presents a study which associates the functions of reading and reading interests to understand the nature of adults' reading practices in Taiwan. The research involves adults who read for relaxation and enjoyment and adults who perceive that reading would provide topics for social conversation. Meanwhile, adults who read for knowledge enhancement tend to read inspiration/religion, consumption/investment and science and technology.
