The ability to immobilize biomolecules on nanopatterned substrates is important for diverse applications including tissue engineering and proteomics. The design of general linkers can allow a single substrate to be used for multiple purposes, as well as reconfiguration of devices if the linkage is reversible. In this work, the glutathione S-transferase (GST) tag was used to reversibly immobilize green fluorescent protein (GFP) and basic fibroblast growth factor (FGF2) on glutathione (GSH)-functionalized nanopatterns fabricated by electron-beam lithography. © 2011 The Royal Society of Chemistry.
