Abstract

The vibration-rotational emission spectra of HCl in the spectral region 2000-3310/cm were temporally resolved with a step scan Fourier transform spectrometer, after the photodissociation of vinyl chloride at 193 nm. All vibrational levels show a bimodal rotational distribution with one component corresponding to 500 K and the other corresponding to 9500 K. The statistical models satisfactorily predict the internal energy distribution of HCl from three center elimination.
