Abstract

The image forces on a dislocation due to the presence of a semi-infinite crack derived by Rice and Thomson and by Asaro are used to calculate the potential energy of the dislocation around the crack. Explicit expressions and some graphs for radial and tangential forces and for slip and climb forces are presented. © 1986.
