Sb-Se-Te alloys have great application potential for infrared, phase memory change, thermoelectric and solar cell devices. The liquidus projection and 400 °C isothermal section of Sb-Se-Te ternary system are experimentally determined. No ternary compound is found. There is a miscibility gap along the Sb-Se side, and there are six primary solidification phase regions, (Sb), δ-(Sb 2 Te), γ-(SbTe), Sb 2 Te 3 , (Se,Te) and Sb 2 Se 3 . There are four invariant reactions involving the liquid phase. The reactions with the lowest and highest reaction temperatures are L + Sb 2 Te 3 ↔Sb 2 Se 3 +(Se,Te) at 415±1 °C and L+(Sb)↔δ-(Sb 2 Te)+Sb 2 Se 3 at 515°±1C, respectively. In the 400 °C Sb-Se-Te isothermal section, there are five tie-triangles, which are Sb 2 Se 3 +δ-(Sb 2 Te)+(Sb), Sb 2 Se 3 +δ-(Sb 2 Te)+γ-(SbTe), Sb 2 Se 3 +γ-(SbTe)+Sb 2 Te 3 , Sb 2 Se 3 +Sb 2 Te 3 +(Se,Te), and Sb 2 Se 3 +Liquid+(Se,Te).
