Abstract

A minimal dead-volume micro-connector was fabricated using poly-demethylsiloxane (PDMS) casting techniques for microfluidic applications. The developed device was also applied to sample loading analysis, resulting in significant enhancement of the detection signals due to the reduction of the dead volume. Strong sealing to withstand high pressures or fluidic resistance on the application of the bio-medical analysis was experimentally verified. The results indicate that the micro-connector has greater versatility for coupling capillaries to various kinds of microfluidic chips made of different materials.
