Abstract

Heavy fermion Kondo Metal-insulator transition Spinel Superconductivity
We have successfully synthesized the vanadium-doped LiTi 2-x V x O 4 superconductors. Detailed structure analysis shows that all samples are spinel structure with negligible variation in lattice constant. The superconducting transition temperature decreases linearly with V-content, and reaches zero at x = 0.025. The normal state resistivity as a function of temperature exhibits a minimum at around 350 K for undoped sample and this resistive-minimum temperature increases linearly with V-content. The superconducting resistive transition is strongly magnetic field dependent and a resistive minimum, indicative of a metal-insulator-like transition as the superconducting transition is suppressed, appears at a critical field, which decreases with V-content. On the other hand, this metal-insulator-like transition temperature increases with magnetic field for all samples. © 2007.
