Abstract
The topological optimization technique presented by Bendsoe and Kikuchi, based on a homogenization method (HBOA), is applied to deal with the optimal design of plate/shell like structures subject to a harmonic, periodic excitation. The proposed algorithm is to, with a given amount of material for design, improve the frequency response of structures through the optimal shape/topology design of structures. Using HBOA, two types of frequency response optimization problems are extensively explored in this paper. An interesting and significant result is provided from the current optimization problem in comparison with a static problem.
